Seasons - Summer
Summers in Kamloops are as dramatic as they are beautiful. With temperatures reaching the high 30’s and even the low 40’s, adapting to the extreme heat is as important for you as it is for your landscaping! For twelve years, Sirocco Landscapes has been designing and maintaining landscaping, softscaping, and xeriscaping projects that thrive in Kamloops’ extremely hot summer conditions. Using native grasses, plants, flowers and intelligent custom irrigation systems, we make the best use of the resources.
Over the course of the summer your landscaping is at the height of its productivity. Maintaining your landscaping can be a full time job! Here are just a few of the tasks that will be on your summer landscaping to-do list:
- Establish and follow a lawn mowing schedule
- Monitor and address weeds in your lawn, flower beds, and vegetable beds
- Water your lawn deeply once per week (if possible)
- Use an in-ground irrigation system to water flower and vegetable beds
When it comes to summer lawn care in Kamloops, there are lots of ways to maintain a lush, green lawn without being a strain on the environment! First off, by choosing a variety of grass that is suited to the environment, you won’t have to expend more resources than necessary to keep it looking its best. When it comes to watering your lawn, instead of giving it a bit of water every other day, water it thoroughly once or twice per week. This will encourage deep root growth while also conserving water. Lastly, instead of bagging your grass clippings, leave them on the lawn. They act as a natural fertilizer. Over the course of the year, simply leaving your grass clipping on the lawn can add up to more than 1 lb of nitrogen being directed right back into the soil!
Sirocco Landscapes offers lawn care maintenance packages that allow you to spend less time watering, and more time enjoying your beautiful property! Browse our services here.
